Guest Room Ready

Hospitality is a beautiful way to love others. It is also an opportunity to provide a space of refuge and peace to people in need. With summer upon us, I wanted to give you some creative ways to make your guests feel welcomed and at home in your living space.

Screen Shot 2014-06-07 at 5.45.07 PMTo help your guests feel comfortable, it is always a good idea to fill the room with lovely scents, soft accent colors, and plenty of blankets. There is almost nothing worse than being in a strange place without easy access to the linen closest. The cosy blankets pictured above are from Restoration Hardware.

First impressions are not just for people, they are also for spaces. To create an inviting guest room I recommend placing flowers in an elegant vase by the bedside table. Nothing says “welcome” more than beautiful flowers! Without adding too much more work, it is always a sweet gesture to place a handwritten note on a neatly made bed alongside some folded linens. Leaving a water pitcher on the nightstand is another thoughtful touch.

Plush pillows and layered bedding makes a bed feel both cozy and inviting. While a bit extravagant, the chandelier above this bed is absolutely fabulous!

As I mentioned earlier, soft hues are the key to a tranquil guest room. I absolutely love to utilize the color blue because it is both peaceful and, when paired with other soft hues, calming.

While not as soft as the blue hues, red accent colors add a beautiful pop of color to any decor. I love the subtle elements of nature that are stitched onto the pillows and blanket pictured below! In case your guest has back problems, or simply likes to enjoy their alone time, it is nice to have a comfortable chair in your guest room.

Hopefully these photos gave you some fresh inspiration for your own guest rooms. I encourage you to have fun getting ready for your guests this summer!
