IMG_9284

It’s starting to feel like spring! Say goodbye to old man winter with it’s dark cozy textures and fabrics. Time to open up the windows and bring in the fresh air of spring.  Follow these easy steps and your bedroom will take on the freshness and beauty of spring in no time!

Design Tip #1

De-clutter and clean old quilts, throws and down comforters. Take down your draperies and strip your bed. This is also a good time to rotate your bed. Or perhaps your mattress is 7-10 years old and it’s time to consider purchasing a new one. Check your sleeping pillows, pillow covers, mattress pad and give them a good washing. Vacuum or mop, wipe down walls and dust every corner.

Design Tip #2

To bring spring feeling to your room, first of all, you’ll need flowers. No matter what flowers you choose – natural or just patterns on the bedspread and curtains. Or you may combine both. Vivid colors, bright accessories, cool fabric and textures – use everything that brings you freshness and makes your mood spring. The quickest and easiest way to brighten and freshen your bedroom is to buy new sheets and quilt cover.

Quilt covers and sheets should be bright and breezy. Or just a classic linen or white sheets will do the trick.

Remember, the pattern, colour or print on your quilt cover is key to refining your bedroom style.

Design Tip #3

Paint or wallpaper a featured wall. This can add instant style and color to your bedroom. Choose fabulous spring colors like aqua, green or happy yellow. Wallpaper is coming back and a feature wall is easy to do with flowers or any pattern.

While the pink might not tickle my fancy completely, I do enjoy how BHG used wallpaper as an inexpensive and creative headboard.

This gives you another quick look at wallpapering a featured wall. Not only does using a feature wall use less wallpaper, but it also creates a tasteful and quick change to any room.

Design Tip #4

And last but not least change any old pictures; this doesn’t have to be expensive you can do it with your own pictures and create a gallery. And of course, the finishing touch for any spring bedroom is to bring the outside indoors with beautiful vase filled with fresh flowers!

I am loving these simple, yet elegant flowers. The vase is exquisite as well and stands out amongst he neutral colors.

Placing a bundle of lavender on the pillows, lighting a lavender scented candle, or spritzing some lavender on clean linen is always a pleasant and inviting aroma!  Screen Shot 2015-04-16 at 1.48.03 PM

I hope you feel inspired to liven up your room and bring in the crisp spring air!
