Not sure how to fill the extra time you have with your kids during the summer? Here are some fun summer activities that the whole family will enjoy!
Utilize the extra time that you have with your kids during the day as a way to connect with them on a deeper level. One way you can do this is by incorporating a time to read the Bible together. If you need some help facilitating this time with your family, I encourage you to check out Our 24 Family Ways: A Family Devotional Guide by Clay Clarkson. Reading together can create a lasting routine that fosters intimacy. I know of one family that would read a few chapters out of a book each night. This brought this family together in a unique way and gave everyone something to look forward to. A few book series I would recommend for older children are Chronicles of Narnia and Trailblazer Series.
Soak up the sun and spend time outdoors. This is an affordable and fun summer activity! Plan a weekly trip to the lake, a local swimming pool or beach if you live close to the ocean. It is helpful to create a rhythm of fun activities that everyone can look forward throughout the week.
Set a summer schedule that includes a new theme each week or a different theme for each day of the week. This might include a certain day of the week designated to a fun new craft and another day of the week that is wide open for a fresh and exciting adventure! Children enjoy routines and it helps them to be able to have things each week that they can get excited about. Here is an adorable free printable that can help you plan out your daily summer schedule.
