From Black and White to Parisian Princess Chic, I’m rounding up what’s trending in your child’s space.
I have reached the breaking point with chalkboard paint, wall decals, and monogrammed beanbag chairs. But never fear: here are fresh ideas for your children’s room.
1. The room designs, vintage prop plane art, and seagrass wastebasket are from Restoration Hardware Baby & Child.
2. The weathered gray colored dresser is from Pottery Barn Kids.
3. The beautiful full-haired cowhide is from Ralph Lauren.
1. The first bedroom design, pink blanket, and design with a crown above the head are from Restoration Hardware Baby & Child.
2. The bella chandelier and bunk beds are from Pottery Barn Kids.
3. The colorful floral backdrop is from Schumacher.
1.Western Chic or Safari Style
Extend your zebra print safari chair into the nursery with a leather-trimmed neutral palette or a sheer gauze-draped bed that hints safari adventure, think Ralph Lauren style.
Take an ethnic styled rug, then “kid-ify” it by adding a wonderful teepee and other western inspired elements.
2. Black and White Is Not Just For Grown Ups
This trend isn’t exclusive to grown ups—bring in black and white cow print, a chic checked pattern, stripes, or a fun black and white animal print. You could easily add black and white art prints to any room or paint sentimental objects in an animal print to reinforce the overall theme.
3. Color Match Their World
Color-match the wall and furniture paint to the shelves for a totally unexpected twist on the traditional notion of a palette. This also works to spotlight artwork and toy collections. Add some vibrant colors through your accent pieces…books, toys…etc.
4. Create A Colorful Floral Backdrop
Bring in a big floral print wallpaper from a fabulous fabric house like Schumacher or Kravet. Think English Country style garden with big floral roses or small print flowers. Then create a wonderful backdrop for any feature wall in your child’s room.
5. Create A Parisian Princess Room
Every little girl dreams of Paris in the spring and being a princess.
Install a chandelier and place it above a round table. Add a silver tea set and soft pastel pinks and neutrals to tie everything together. Put a huge crown above the bed, as seen in one of the pictures, with fabric hanging from each side. Lastly, create a luxurious bed with layers of pillows and patterned sheets with a small print in order to infuse majesty.
